| 1921年、エドゥアルド・ジャイエ（アンリ・ジャイエの父の兄弟、セシル・トランブレーの曽祖父）がドメーヌを創業しました。所有面積は約6ヘクタール。その娘ルネ・ジャイエ（セシル・トランブレーの祖母）は1950年、畑を同じ家系であるミシェル・ノエラに貸しました。メテイヤージュ（分益小作）で、ミシェル・ノエラは、彼がこの畑から造ったワインの半分程度をルネ・ジャイエに寄贈し、地代としてきました。2000年より、それまでワインで支払われていた分を、ぶどうで、孫のセシル・トランブレーに支払うという契約変更が成立しました。収穫からセシルの手によって行われ、そのぶどうを使って、ロブレ・モノとともにワイン造りを開始しました。2003年、半分の3ヘクタール分についてメテイヤージュの契約期間が終了し、セシルが正式に畑を継承しました。残り半分も将来的には返却されることになります。 （※元エージェント資料より） |

There are three and a quarter barrels of the brilliant 2018 Echezeaux
du Dessus Grand Cru, a dramatic and expressive wine that soars from the
glass with aromas of spices, burning embers, red berries, cassis, citrus
peel and plums. It's full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a broad,
creamily textural attack, striking mid-palate amplitude and a long,
resonant finish of notable purity and precision. This isn't too far off
the level of the 2015 rendition, the wine I would single out as the best
Echezeaux that Tremblay has bottled to date. |

The 2017 Echezeaux du Dessus Grand Cru unfurls in the glass with a wild bouquet of red berries, rich spices, blood orange, grilled game and rich soil. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, very ample and expansive, with a broad attack, rich but melting structuring tannins and a fleshy core of fruit, concluding with a flamboyantly resonant finish. This is more dramatic?albeit less concentrated?than the Chapelle-Chambertin, and though the two are very different in style, they are similar in ultimate quality. |

Hit 50% by the frost, the 2016 Echezeaux du Dessus Grand Cru, which Cecile Tremblay believes was affected less because the vines are trained Cordon Royat at a higher height than Guyot Simple. It has delightful and (again) very pure and seductive bouquet with ample black cherries, blackcurrant and blueberry aromas, sutured perfectly with new oak (50% here). The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, licorice-tinged entry that merges into a mid-palate packed to the rafters with black and red fruit. But this is not an overpowering Echezeaux and it maintains superb focus all the way through to the finish. This is as good as the 2015 and may even surpass it. |

The 2015 Echezeaux du Dessus Grand Cru has a broodier bouquet compared to the Chapelle-Chambertin, reluctantly opening with red berry fruit (raspberry and cranberry) with subtle hints of rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied with a structured, slightly angular opening. This will coalesce, knit together during its elevage with a spicy, saline finish that feels (again) broody, but will surely come out of its shell given sufficient time in bottle. |
